Spays and Neuters

Spaying or neutering your pet can help him live a longer, healthier life, minimizes behavior problems and helps control the population of unwanted pets. Spaying or neutering your pet eliminates unwanted litters, which contributes to thousands of euthanasia procedures and millions of stray animals.

Spaying

Spaying is a surgical procedure in which both ovaries and uterus are completely removed from your female pet. Also called an "ovariohysterectomy", the surgery is performed while your pet is under general anesthesia. There are many benefits associated with spaying your pet including decreased incidence of aggressive behavior, reduced risk of breast cancer, uterine infection and ovarian/uterine cancers. It can also help alleviate the burden of pet overpopulation. Additionally, research has shown that pets that have been spayed live longer than pets that have not been spayed.

Neutering

Neutering involves the removal of both testicles from your male pet. Also referred to as "castration", it's a minor surgical procedure that's done while your pet is under general anesthesia. There are many benefits associated with neutering your pet including decreased incidence of aggressive behavior, reduced risk of certain infectious diseases, testicular and prostate gland cancers and infections and enlargement of the prostate gland.
